Vernacular type

Let me just start off by saying this project has been my absolute favorite project. I love that I got to go out and explore a new place especially during class time; and to be honest I knew about The Square before this project but thanks to this project I finally got that little push I had been needing in order to go out and actually explore it. I will be honest though the day my classmates and I went out to explore the weather was absolutely horrible. It was rainy and way too humid for my liking.

We started off at the San Marcos Courthouse then we all went our separate ways to take our photos; I started off by walking across the street and took a photo of a movie theater, then proceeded to walk the entirety of The Square. Which, by the way, was a great workout.

Like I said before I am so glad I was finally able to explore it. I found so many stores that I was dying to visit but because I had a lot of photos to take and I was technically in class I couldn’t exactly walk into the stores and go shopping. Don’t worry I went back later in the week with my friend so i was able to explore the shops. But the energy of the square was very youthful and fun; you can definitely tell that it is a place that college students go to often, and once it stopped drizzling, and progressively started getting more humid, it started to get busier. I saw more students walking around and stepping out from the stores they were hiding from the rain in. I remember I was taking a photo of a sign for a barber store and a group of men, who were standing outside the shop for whatever reason, playfully said “oh hey take one of me.” Initially I was a tad bit nervous to walk past them, but they were really nice as were a lot of the people who were out and about that day.

The final outcome of this project is so amazing in my opinion and I cannot wait until it’s done being graded so I can hang both of them up on my wall. I think that I did a pretty good job, and I won’t lie and say that I was not nervous for this project because when my professor mentioned we were going to use Illustrator and Photoshop I got a little worried because I am horrible when it comes to anything digital. Nevertheless I think they turned out pretty good.
